Cutest baby EVER!

We entered a photo of Wendy in Babytalk magazine's cover baby contest..
.
If she doesn't win then I say they must be communists... I mean, LOOK AT HER! She's the cutest baby EVER!
So far summer has been treating me pretty good - although I've only had summer for a weekend so far...but it was a NICE weekend. Restful. Joyous. Awesome. Anywho, I'm going to bugger off and get back to reading this kick ass book I've been reading (it's called The Hunger Games) because I only get in really solid stretches of reading when Wendy is asleep...

Spring Break rocks my socks

I'm going to try to post some pictures of Wendy because she's ADORABLE with all caps!

Here's Wendy playing with measuring cups while I make breakfast. Once I heard her giggling madly behind me and turned to find her holding a roll of paper towels halfway unrolled which she had some how managed to snatch. (Go go Gadget arms...)

Here's Wendy and Luna looking out at the neighborhood. Wendy is incredibly fond of shouting insults out to the world - things like, "Gawaaah!" and "Daaayeh!" Of course, they could be compliments rather than insults - my babese is a little rusty...

And here she is reaching for the camera. Wendy enjoys grabbing for things. She enjoys putting said things into her mouth once a grab-for-it has been successfully completed. She also enjoys bath time. Ah, the simple joys of childhood...

After a hard day's work Wendy needs a good car seat nap - she almost always falls asleep in the car. Of course when we get home and try to transfer her from car seat to bed she wakes up and wants to play. No rest for the wicked...
On an unrelated topic the ball in her lap in the above picture is called a "Taggie". Wendy has had a fascination with tags on things for many months now. I thought it rather brilliant that someone decided to design a baby toy with dozens of tags.
Well, there you a have it - a few pictures from our Spring Break time together. I'll try to post again before I have to go back to work - but don't hold your breath...

seeds of beginnings in every ending

Play is over after today - last one for Sydney. SO sad. Will miss her much. Always one that's REALLY hard to let go of - first Joshie, then Sami, then Brent (really , REALLY hard there), then Keely, and now Sydney. Sigh... Proud of the play. Think I want to rewrite it without all the censoring I had to do for a high school production. Was fun. Glad it's over, though. Onward to Spring Break with Wendy - oodles of bonding time for baby and me. Yippee - something to dance about!

Stars Upon Thars

I had no idea what to title this blog and I looked down at my belly (I'm wearing a new tank top with silver stars on it ) and voila! That has nothing to do with anything.
I'm really sleepy and I should be in bed now (Wendy's asleep - quick make a break for it!) but I want to WRITE. I want to write so bad I can taste it. I'm reading On Writing by Stephen King aloud to my creative writing class - it's part autobiography part instruction booklet and ALL great. The man spends like six to eight hours a day just reading and writing. It sounds like heaven. And I think I could do it. Be a writer, I mean - I've read a lot of books, and I am at least partly certain that I could write something as good if not better than at least 25% of the shit I've read before. I just need...what? I don't know - an idea? inspiration? time? something to pull the safety net out from under my feet? Maybe if I haven't done it by now I'm not meant to ever do it. Who knows. We were talking in my advisory class today about how cool it would be if the people who got the blood you donated could contact you to thank you - and how cute it would be if that's how one couple met and fell in love. See - pretty decent starting point for a story, but so then what? What's the conflict? What must they overcome? Where am I going with this? That's where I always lose it. I can get started, but I can never finish - or even get to the middle - because I'm not really so good at the conflict. Joss Whedon said all the best stories start with a "what if"...but what if I never come up with my "what if"?

almost finished - just in time to begin

Rehearsals began today for our spring drama club production. Not only have I NOT QUITE finished the play, but my male lead was like 20 minutes late. I worry about the many new folks in this year's show - they are always such a gamble. I have enjoyed writing the play. I'm not sure if it's any good (during today's read-though all of the characters seems incredibly one-dimensional) but it's been nice writing just the same. I wish I was a stay at home mom and author. I would freaking love that. I really hope I still enjoy directing after having Wendy. All I want to do any more is spend all my time with her. I TOTALLY have a crush on my daughter...

Here I am...

I started this blog so I could read two of my favorite people's blogs everyday - my husband Alex's sketch blog and my very dear friend and matron of honor from my wedding, Maria's blog. I doubt mine will be as interesting as theirs but I will do my best not to embarrass myself in front of them. I have to get to work rewriting the Shakespearean comedy "As You Like It" (more on that next time) so I'm cutting this short. Ta ta!
